Matte finish labels can be used and are popular across a wide variety products and industries. Matte finish labels are frequently used for candles, wine bottles, craft beers, specialty foods, grooming products, hair products and so much more!
Matte finish labels have a soft, flat and low sheen appearance. This look is perfect for brands that want to bring a vintage, subtle or elegant look to their products.
If you need to write a date, variety name, or other information on your labels, simply choose either an unlaminated paper or a material with a matte laminate.
With unlaminated papers, you can use a ballpoint pen, fine point or ultra fine point permanent marker, pencil–really any writing implement on those materials.
With a matte laminate, we recommend using a fine point or ultra fine point permanent marker. Since the laminate is made of plastic, ballpoint pens or gel pens aren’t recommended.
The material and finish you choose will give your label the character it needs and deserves, but not all materials are created equal.
If you’re jarring dry goods, White Paper is the most economical material choice.
For waterproof labels, you will want to go with Plastic or Vinyl materials.
For a textured effect, check out our specialty papers–Recycled Kraft, Estate, or Avon Classic.
To determine your label size, follow these simple steps:
And you’re done!
Here are a few things to look out for when preparing your art files:
– Size of your art file should be 0.125” larger than the final cut size.
– Background color or patterns go all the way to the edge of the artwork (bleed).
– Text and design elements should be inside of the safe zone, within 0.125″ from the cut line.
– Fonts sized at 5pt or larger.
– Fonts converted to outlines, and images embedded. (We won’t see them otherwise!)
– For image files, resolution is at least 300ppi. For best quality, we recommend 800ppi.
– Files are less than 100MB each.
Our team wants to see your business succeed, and we’re committed to helping you achieve your vision. When you call us for help, you’ll talk with an Experience Team member who knows labels front-to-back, who can answer any question you throw at them.
