Clear labels are highly versatile and look amazing in almost any application. We have three options to choose from: Clear Plastic, Ultra Clear Plastic, and Clear Vinyl.
For the most cost-effective option, Clear Plastic is the way to go. It’s very easy to apply and looks stunning on most surfaces.
Ultra Clear Plastic is a super thin material that practically disappears on glass surfaces. If you want a “no-label” look similar to screen printing, this is the material for you! Keep in mind that this material can be tricky to apply by hand, but it works wonders in a label applicator.
Clear Vinyl is the muscle of the clear materials. Weatherproof and oil proof, this material can withstand virtually any indoor and outdoor application.
Our Ultra Clear Plastic material is a biaxially oriented polypropylene, non-cavitated film with a “no label” look (when manufactured with a clear adhesive). This film has high machine direction stiffness and tensile strength, which produces excellent matrix stripping and high-speed label dispensing properties.

If you want a crystal clear, “no label” look, opt for a gloss finish.
If you have a frosted container, or want a frosted look for your label, choose the matte laminate for an understated look.
Nothing beats a simple white design on a clear label. The only problem is that you can’t actually see it on screen!
The temptation might be to make the design elements black instead of white, but try going a step further and make everything 100% magenta. If all your artwork layers are intact (which they really should be!) you should name this layer “White Ink”. This will easily clue the artwork team in that you don’t actually want pink. You can also add instructions in your order itself, or drop a line to our Experience Team letting them know what you need.
Here are a few things to look out for when preparing your art files:
– Size of your art file should be 0.125” larger than the final cut size.
– Background color or patterns go all the way to the edge of the artwork (bleed).
– Text and design elements should be inside of the safe zone, within 0.125″ from the cut line.
– Fonts sized at 5pt or larger.
– Fonts converted to outlines, and images embedded. (We won’t see them otherwise!)
– For image files, resolution is at least 300ppi. For best quality, we recommend 800ppi.
– Files are less than 100MB each.
Our team wants to see your business succeed, and we’re committed to helping you achieve your vision. When you call us for help, you’ll talk with an Experience Team member who knows labels front-to-back, who can answer any question you throw at them.
