Our Silver Metallic Plastic, Silver Metallic Paper, or Rainbow Hologram Plastic are great choices for an eye-catching look! Metallic materials work for virtually any industry or purpose where you want a pop of shine to your label.
If you have a product that requires refrigeration, or contact with moisture or oils, try our Silver Metallic Plastic or Rainbow Hologram Plastic. Being both waterproof and oil resistant, plastic is perfect for a variety of uses, whether your product is a vitamin supplement, food or beverage, or used for bath and body. Silver Metallic Paper is a more cost-effective metallic option that gives your packaging a unique, high-end look without the high-end price! This material is best for uses that will not include contact with water or oils.
Once you have chosen the perfect metallic material for your product, you will choose a laminate to finish off your label. Laminating a label gives it a more heavy-duty staying ability and unbeatable durability that can stand up against sunlight, moisture, oil, fingerprints, solvents, and scuffing. Choose Gloss Laminate for high metallic shine, or a Matte laminate for a more subtle, smooth look.
Our Metallic Paper material is a smooth bright silver metalized paper with the appearance of foil. Has superior converting properties. Great for use with most indoor applications. Coupled with our semi-transparent inks, this material can produce the look of almost any foil color you desire.
We use Color + White (5/c) printing when you choose a metallic material. Without white ink, all of the print will appear metallic because anything printed directly onto the silver will still allow the metallic effect to shine through. Where you want portions to be non-metallic, we print a primer layer of white ink first (called spotwhite) underneath your ink colors first. Since white ink is fully opaque, anywhere this layer is printed will block the metallic properties and appear non-reflective. You will want to provide us with a “spotwhite” layer (set to 100% magenta so we can see where you intend it) in your artwork or provide us information on where you want white ink printed behind your artwork when you place your order.
Pro tip!: Because the raw Silver Metallic materials are naturally darker, low percentage colors (where any of the CMYK values are below 15%) that are not backed with white ink may not show up very saturated. Need advice? Give our Experience Team a shout and we’ll be happy to help make sure your metallic labels turn out exactly as you envisioned.
To determine your label size, follow these simple steps:
1. Take a piece of graph or printer paper and wrap it around your product.
2. Make tick marks where you want label to be.
3. Cut the paper down to size and wrap it around product again.
4. Repeat until your prototype is the perfect shape and fit.
5. Measure the width and length of mockup label in inches.
And you’re done!
Here are a few things to look out for when preparing your art files:
– Size of your art file should be 0.125” larger than the final cut size.
– Background color or patterns go all the way to the edge of the artwork (bleed).
– Text and design elements should be inside of the safe zone, within 0.125″ from the cut line.
– Fonts sized at 5pt or larger.
– Fonts converted to outlines, and images embedded. (We won’t see them otherwise!)
– For image files, resolution is at least 300ppi. For best quality, we recommend 800ppi.
– Files are less than 100MB each.
Our team wants to see your business succeed, and we’re committed to helping you achieve your vision. When you call us for help, you’ll talk with an Experience Team member who knows labels front-to-back, who can answer any question you throw at them.
