With its bright white color and ribbed texture, Estate 4 Paper will elevate the appearance and desirability of any product. This material is not waterproof, but it is designed to have “wet strength,” which will keep your label looking good, keep it firmly in place, and prevent the dreaded “naked bottle” that happens when cheap labels are submerged in coolers for lengthy spells.
Estate 4 Paper labels are the perfect fit for artisan and specialty products alike. The texture and crisp-white complexion of this material provide great character to your product’s packaging, allowing you to achieve an elegant look and feel that complements your brand. Best of all, Estate 4 Paper labels are water-resistant which allows them to withstand refrigeration and moisture.
Choose from our extensive selection of shapes and sizes or create your own for a fully-custom look and maximize your design with spotwhite to make text and graphics stand out. With broad experience creating labels for a wide array of industries and uses, we know the printing techniques needed to make your Estate 4 Paper labels look their best.

Estate 4 Paper Labels are frequently used for wine bottles, beer bottles, candle jars, coffee bags, tea bags, and many other artisan-style products.
While Estate 4 Paper Labels are not waterproof, they are water-resistant and hold up strong against refrigeration and moisture.
Our Estate 4 Paper material is an elegant white facestock with a laid finish that is manufactured with “wet strength” properties to increase performance in moist environments. The Estate grades are alkaline and made with archival properties for a longer life. It is suitable for high-speed bottling and packaging lines. It is a great stock for premium and prestigious labeling such as wine bottles and home-craft labeling applications.
If you need to write a date, variety name, or other information on your labels, simply choose either an unlaminated paper or a material with a matte laminate.
With unlaminated papers, you can use a ballpoint pen, fine point or ultra-fine point permanent marker, pencil–really any writing implement on those materials.
With a matte laminate, we recommend using a fine point or ultra-fine point permanent marker. Since the laminate is made of plastic, ballpoint pens or gel pens aren’t recommended.
You may have come across the terms waterproof and water-resistant when researching the best wine label material. While you may see these terms listed together, they are not interchangeable, and knowing the difference will help you decide which material will perform best for your wine product.
A truly waterproof label is made of plastic or vinyl material, with an over-laminate (either glossy or matte) for even more protection. These materials will shield against water, and protect the label from shriveling, curling, or peeling. After being applied to a clean, dry surface, your waterproof labels can withstand full submersion in water for extended periods of time. You can make a splash with any of our plastic materials! Choose from clear, white, or metallic options, or select a white or clear vinyl for supreme durability.
Water-resistant labels will be able to endure moisture to a degree, but not entirely. While these materials will shield against water for a time, the look and feel of the label will be affected after contact with water is made. Water-resistant materials are recommended for products that will encounter damp environments, but not experience full immersion or long term exposure to moisture. We refer to these materials as having a “wet-strength.” A wine bottle that needs to hold up to condensation in the refrigerator or float in a cooler of ice is a great example. Avon Classic Crest, Estate 4, Estate 9, and Black Vellum all have wet strength capability.
Here are a few things to look out for when preparing your art files:
– Size of your art file should be 0.125” larger than the final cut size.
– Background color or patterns go all the way to the edge of the artwork (bleed).
– Text and design elements should be inside of the safe zone, within 0.125″ from the cut line.
– Fonts sized at 5pt or larger.
– Fonts converted to outlines, and images embedded. (We won’t see them otherwise!)
– For image files, resolution is at least 300ppi. For best quality, we recommend 800ppi.
– Files are less than 100MB each.
