Our Avon Classic Crest® Paper material is a suitable choice for labels that will be used on products in indoor environments free of oil and water. Avon Classic Crest® works great for dry foods and products that do not contain liquid. Frequently used for tea, coffee, candles, and disposable food packaging.
Our Avon Classic Crest material is an Elegant bright white smooth finish with an exceptionally clean and crisp appearance. It is a great stock for premium labeling such as wine bottles and home-craft labeling. The base paper is also FSC® certified, acid free and archival quality. It is manufactured with “wet strength” properties to increase performance in moist environments.
If you need to write a date, variety name, or other information on your labels, simply choose either an unlaminated paper or a material with a matte laminate.
With unlaminated papers, you can use a ballpoint pen, fine point or ultra fine point permanent marker, pencil–really any writing implement on those materials.
With a matte laminate, we recommend using a fine point or ultra fine point permanent marker. Since the laminate is made of plastic, ballpoint pens or gel pens aren’t recommended.
You may have come across the terms waterproof and water-resistant when researching the best wine label material. While you may see these terms listed together, they are not interchangeable, and knowing the difference will help you decide which material will perform best for your wine product.
A truly waterproof label is made of plastic or vinyl material, with an over-laminate (either glossy or matte) for even more protection. These materials will shield against water, and protect the label from shriveling, curling, or peeling. After being applied to a clean, dry surface, your waterproof labels can withstand full submersion in water for extended periods of time. You can make a splash with any of our plastic materials! Choose from clear, white, or metallic options, or select a white or clear vinyl for supreme durability.
Water-resistant labels will be able to endure moisture to a degree, but not entirely. While these materials will shield against water for a time, the look and feel of the label will be affected after contact with water is made. Water-resistant materials are recommended for products that will encounter damp environments, but not experience full immersion or long term exposure to moisture. We refer to these materials as having a “wet-strength.” A wine bottle that needs to hold up to condensation in the refrigerator or float in a cooler of ice is a great example. Avon Classic Crest, Estate 4, Estate 9, and Black Vellum all have wet strength capability.
Here are a few things to look out for when preparing your art files:
– Size of your art file should be 0.125” larger than the final cut size.
– Background color or patterns go all the way to the edge of the artwork (bleed).
– Text and design elements should be inside of the safe zone, within 0.125″ from the cut line.
– Fonts sized at 5pt or larger.
– Fonts converted to outlines, and images embedded. (We won’t see them otherwise!)
– For image files, resolution is at least 300ppi. For best quality, we recommend 800ppi.
– Files are less than 100MB each.
