Since hand sanitizer claims to kill germs, viruses, and other bacteria, these products are considered over-the-counter drugs and are therefore regulated by the FDA. You’ll need to do some research to ensure your hand sanitizer label meets FDA requirements. You may also want to enlist the help of a graphic designer or check out the designers on freelance websites so that your label meets all requirements.

Since hand sanitizer is intended to prevent the spread of viruses and disease by killing germs on the hands, the FDA regulates the information that must be displayed on the product label. In addition to a Drug Facts panel, you’ll also need to indicate the type of alcohol used in your hand sanitizer product (i.e., ethanol or isopropyl alcohol). For more information, check out our blog detailing the FDA requirements for hand sanitizer labels.
Hand sanitizer bottles can range in size and use from personal-sized bottles to large containers for office settings. As such, the material type you choose should match the level of usage your product will see.
For personal hand sanitizer bottles, a durable material like White Plastic or White Vinyl would be the best option. These materials are waterproof and oil-resistant, which means your labels will stay looking nice for the duration of your product’s lifespan. You can customize your labels further by choosing a clear, metallic, or holographic option!
At this time, we do not offer templates for hand sanitizer labels. But, we do know there are some great graphic design resources available where you can get amazing custom hand sanitizer label designs!
Here are a few things to look out for when preparing your art files:
– Size of your art file should be 0.125” larger than the final cut size.
– Background color or patterns go all the way to the edge of the artwork (bleed).
– Text and design elements should be inside of the safe zone, within 0.125″ from the cut line.
– Fonts sized at 5pt or larger.
– Fonts converted to outlines, and images embedded. (We won’t see them otherwise!)
– For image files, resolution is at least 300ppi. For best quality, we recommend 800ppi.
– Files are less than 100MB each.
