Time is Money for Custom Labels

This is a clock with the 3 replaced by a dollar sign.

“Ain’t nobody got time for that.” – Sweet Brown

Just like our beloved friend Sweet Brown, we know that there are some things that no one has time for.

In terms of business, time is often equated with money – wasted time is wasted money.

We don’t want to be a cause for anyone to have wasted money while waiting on their custom labels or stickers to arrive.

To help with that, we offer a standard 3 business day turnaround. This is an approximation because we could have a larger than normal work load or a machine could be down for a period of time. This puts a hiccup in our work flow, and the 3 days could turn into 4 or 5.

While a lot of companies who print labels offer much longer turnaround times, we try our hardest to get the labels out the door as closely to 3 business days as possible, if not faster.

If you have to sit around with people waiting on the shipment of packaging supplies, labels, or other necessary elements, you are losing money by paying people to sit and wait. We know that for small businesses, this is especially difficult and could make or break a quarter or year depending on the scale and frequency of your product packaging.

With our standard turnaround time, we don’t include the time it takes for proofs to be approved, or for other options to be included in the production of your custom printed labels. The options could include matching a PANTONEĀ® color, printing variable data elements, ordering a custom die or selecting a printed proof.

For color matching, we add 1 business day for each 5 colors to match because of the time it takes to calibrate the press for your specific colors.

For variable data printing, we add 2-3 business days to cover the time it can take to generate all of the elements and the associated print files.

For custom dies, we add 2 business days because of the process of ordering the physical tool from its manufacturer and having it shipped to us.

For printed proofs, we add 2 business days because we have to print it out and then ship it to you. After you receive the proof, you have to log into your account and approve or disapprove the proof. For every time we have to send a new printed proof, we will charge you for the shipping of the new proof and it will add 2 more business days to the total length of the process.

As you can see, adding options can extend the processing time for the total order. But, you can help keep the total time lower by promptly responding to phone calls, emails and proofs which are sent to you via email or shipped with UPS. The longer it takes you to respond to our contacts and proofs, the longer the total process will be for you to receive your finished labels.

If things are taking longer than you expected, you can always change the timeline with one of two methods. The first is to upgrade your order from 3 business day processing to 1 business day expedited processing. This comes with a standard charge of $295 per 10,000 labels. This removes 2 business days from the total processing time. If you have additional options which extend the total process, it may take longer than one business day.

The second way to shorten the length of processing is to change your shipping option to a quicker delivery method. If you requested ground shipping, it may be a good idea to upgrade to 3 Day Select or 2nd Day Air delivery if you are on the West Coast, if you are East of the Mississippi, you may wish to upgrade to Next Day Air. The cost of upgrade for shipping is almost always less than the cost for upgrading overall processing time.

We will do everything that we can to help you get your labels as quickly as possible. Please help us by responding in a timely fashion to our contacts and proofs. We can help each other save money and time by working together on quicker turnarounds.
