Get Outdoors and Help Others

GOATrips leader shows young people how to read a map in the wilderness.

We would like to introduce you to our friends over at GOAT (Great Outdoor Adventure Trips). This is a non-profit that exists to provide outdoor experiences to underprivileged youth that they would not otherwise be able to enjoy.

The importance of getting into Nature at regular intervals cannot be overstated from a psychological, physical or mental standpoint. Exploring and experiencing new opportunities in a group is positively linked to improvements in mental health, physical health and relational skills. We really appreciate the heart behind GOAT and their founder, Ryan McCrary:

“GOAT is a group of passionate people on a mission to help under-resourced kids achieve their full potential. Many times their life circumstances mean they are more likely to drop out of high school, commit a crime, join a gang, abuse drugs or be involved in teen pregnancy.”

If you have any experience with adventure trips into nature, you are probably aware of the potential costs of equipment and the knowledge needed to explore safely. These are not commodities to which many underprivileged youth from our fair city of Greenville, SC have ready and abundant access.

GOAT is a wonderful organization that has engaged hundreds of students on adventure trips over the last 5 years. Some of the first adventurers are now plugged into the staff, helping lend a hand themselves. The trips include hiking, camping, mountain biking, rafting and more.

“We provide a clear pathway that starts with basic character qualities and builds up to real-world responsibility, leadership and job opportunities. In the context of a safe relationship, working towards goals like entrepreneurship is not only motivating for the kids we help, but has the potential to change their lives, the lives of their families, and their communities as a whole.” – Ryan McCrary, Founder of GOAT

It is an honor to support the work that they are doing, and if you are in the Greenville, SC area, drop by their climbing gym to see the good they are doing in person.

A special thank you to all of our customers who have chosen to work with us. You have given us the opportunity to invest in local organizations because we have consistent business and profits that we can allocate toward good works going on in our area.
