Quality

We have two options for you.
Both-Image-Final
High Quality
Economy Mode
Detail-Image-final
High Quality
Economy Mode
Economy Mode is for low quantities of simple design labels or stickers, with solid primary colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black). It prints at 400dpi and is best for low quantities of all black text labels. The Economy Mode Quality cannot handle gradients, high levels of detail or Pantone matching.

As you can see in the images above, some art works well with the Economy Mode quality, and some does not.

Shape

You can use this to narrow down the 978 sizes available.

Size

It all starts with the right size.
  • Size

All stock sizes are listed width by length as shown in the illustration to the right.
  • Corner Radius

All of our rectangular dies have an industry standard corner radius of 0.125" unless otherwise specified.
  • Roll Direction

If you do not apply your labels by machine, roll direction is not important. Please select hand applied when prompted.
If you are applying your labels by machine, please be sure the size you select matches your artwork orientation and the direction you would like your label to come off of the roll. (Roll direction help) You will be prompted towards the end of the ordering process to pick a roll direction.
    • Roll Direction Help

Roll direction is very important when applying your labels by machine. Our stock dies are listed width by length as shown in the illustration to the left. This also applies for custom dies. Please be sure that the size you choose and the desired text orientation are congruent.

      Available Roll Directions (by Number)
  • Special Shapes

When selected, stock sizes with "special" shapes will show a preview of the cut line.
  • Perforated Dies

Dies listed as "perforated" have a micro-perforation between each label that penetrates the backing paper. This makes it possible to cleanly seperate individual labels from the roll.

Total Quantity

How many labels or stickers do you need today?
As an advantage of digital printing you can combine quantities of labels that have different designs as long as they have the same production criteria (size, shape, colors, material, and laminate). Because pricing is based on total quantity, this dramatically reduces the price you pay per label.

Colors

Choose the color build that compliments your design.
  • Color (CMYK)

This printing option is for full color printing on white or metallic substrates (or clear substrates when you want the ink to be transparent). This printing option combines four colors in print to produce millions of other colors. If this option is selected you must make sure your graphic files are setup in CMYK mode.
  • Color with White (CMYKW)

This printing option is for full color printing on clear or metallic substrates. White is printed behind the areas that you select to help make the design less transparent. On metallic substrates it is used to mask the metallic properties in areas you do not wish to be refective. If this option is selected you must make sure your graphic files are setup in CMYK mode and if possible add a spot channel called "spotwhite" which contains all the area you want printed with white ink. If you do not know how to setup your graphic files this way you may allow our graphics team to take care of it. Simply put a detailed description of where you would like spot white to appear in the customer comments section.
  • Black Only (K)

This printing option is for text mostly. To use this option, build your artwork with grayscale mode, or use only Black (K) in CMYK mode.
  • Double Sided (CMYKWsCsMsYsK)

This printing option is for full color printing on both sides of clear substrates (double-sided printing). This option is only available for clear materials. If this option is selected you must make sure your graphic files are setup in CMYK mode and if possible add a spot channel called "spotwhite" which contains all the areas that you want to not be see-through. Also add 4 more spot channels for the sticky side printed image, call these "SubCyan", "SubMagenta" and so on. If you do not know how to setup your graphic files this way you may allow our graphics team to take care of it (there may be a fee for this service).

  • Color with White and Silver (CMYKWS)

This option is only available with our thermal transfer printing. This printing option is for full color printing with silver, on clear substrates. White is printed behind the areas that you select to help make the design less transparent. The silver ink is used to give metallic properties in areas you wish to be refective. If this option is selected you must make sure your graphic files are setup in CMYK mode and if possible add a spot channel called "Spot1" which contains all the areas you want printed with white ink, and a spot channel called "Spot2" which contains all the areas you want printed with silver ink. If you do not know how to setup your graphic files this way you may allow our graphics team to take care of it. Simply put a detailed description of where you would like spot white and spot silver to appear in the customer comments section.

Pantone Match

Does your artwork require Pantone colors?
Our HP Press is setup with IndiChrome; an extended gamut of color, CMYKOV. If you would like us to match a Pantone solid color, we are able to get much closer with this option.

When selecting this option, make sure that you build your artwork with Pantone swatches and spot colors. If the program that you use to build your artwork does not allow specification of Pantone swatches or spot colors, please put the Pantone color names/numbers in the customer comment section of the checkout process.

With the extended gamut, are able to get within 3 Delta E of most Pantone colors. There may be exceptions to our ability to match; our prepress department will contact customers to find the best alternative to any out-of-gamut colors.

For additional help with Pantone color matching, feel free to call our prepress department 1-877-277-4682.

Material

What would you like your designs printed on?
  • White Plastic

This is our most popular substrate. It is used in all indoor applications. It is considered permanent when applied to most flat, hard, clean, dry non-coated surfaces. It is mostly opaque, but may not be opaque enough to cover high contrast text without dark ink printed on it.
  • White Plastic Removable

This substrate is used in all indoor applications. It is considered removable when applied to most flat, hard, clean, dry non-coated surfaces. The adhesive is much like that of a Post-it® Note. This substrate can be removed from surfaces it has been stuck to, without leaving any glue residue. It is mostly opaque, but may not be opaque enough to cover high contrast text without dark ink printed on it.
  • Clear Plastic

This substrate is almost completely transparent. It is used in all indoor applications. It is considered permanent when applied to most flat, hard, clean, dry non-coated surfaces. When using this substrate it is common to back all printing with White Ink since our color inks themselves are about 50% transparent.
  • Paper

This is our most basic substrate. It is white. It is used in all dry indoor applications. It is considered permanent when applied to most flat, hard, clean, dry non-coated surfaces. It is more opaque than the White Plastic, but it may still not be opaque enough to cover high contrast text without dark ink printed on it.
  • Silver Metallic Paper

This material starts as silvery metallized stock. By printing our transparent inks, we can make any color look metallic. It is used in all dry indoor applications. It is considered permanent when applied to most flat, hard, clean, dry non-coated surfaces. It is completely opaque.

  • Silver Metallic Plastic

This material starts as silvery metallized stock. By printing our transparent inks, we can make any color look metallic. It is used in all indoor applications. It is considered permanent when applied to most flat, hard, clean, dry non-coated surfaces. It is completely opaque.
  • White Vinyl

This is our best quality substrate. It is used in all indoor or outdoor applications. It is considered permanent when applied to most flat, hard, clean, dry non-coated surfaces. It is mostly opaque, but may not be opaque enough to cover high contrast text without dark ink printed on it.
  • Clear Vinyl

This substrate is the same high quality as the one above but it is transparent. It is used in all indoor or outdoor applications. It is considered permanent when applied to most flat, hard, clean, and dry non-coated surfaces. When using this substrate it is common to back all printing with White Ink since our color inks themselves are about 50% transparent.
  • Estate Paper Products

These substrates come in two colors: Estate 4 (white) and Estate 9 (antique white). They have a ribbed texture and kraft paper feel that requires no laminate. It is considered permanent when applied to most flat, hard, clean, dry non-coated surfaces. These materials have been manufactured with "wet strength" properties to increase performance in moist environments. Estate series papers are very popular in the wine industry because of their beauty and versatility. Note: estate materials are not laminated and cannot be laminated, therefore are not scuff or scratch proof. They are resistant to scuffing and scratching, but not impervious to scruff or scratch damage. If this is a concern, please select a different material.
  • Material Life Expectancy

Our materials have a guaranteed shelf life of six months if stored in a climate controlled area between 62 and 78 degrees Fahrenheit. This is the period of time that the labels are viable while remaining on the roll. In most cases, our products last much longer depending on the elements to which the materials are submitted and the type of material. Frontier Label will not offer refunds for material issues beyond the six month period.

Laminate

What kind of coating does your application require?
  • Gloss Finish

This laminate is our most popular. This laminate gives colors a slightly richer look. It gives the label a gloss finish and protects the ink from rubbing off or smearing. It is used for all indoor applications.
  • Matte Finish

This laminate gives colors a slightly lighter and softer look and protects the ink from rubbing off or smearing. It is used for all indoor applications.
  • Gloss Finish - UV Outdoor

This laminate gives the label a gloss finish and protects the ink from rubbing off, smearing or fading in the sun for up to 5 years. It is used for all indoor and outdoor applications.
  • Gloss Finish - Printable

This laminate gives the label a gloss finish and protects the ink from rubbing off or smearing. It can be printed on with many thermal transfer printers after the labels are finished. It is used for all indoor applications.

Number of Designs

Tell us how many variations you want printed.
  • 1 - 15 designs

Customers can combine multiple label designs that have the same production criteria (size, shape, colors, material, and laminate) on the the same order for $15 for each additional design. Simply enter the number of designs you will be uploading and the order form will provide you with the appropriate number of upload spaces. It also allows you to specify quantities for each of the uploaded files.
  • 16-30 designs (Variable Data)

Customers can combine multiple label designs that have the same production criteria (size, shape, colors, material, and laminate) on the same order for $15 per additional design. For more than 15 designs, a spreadsheet of quantities and file names or variations is required along with a copy of each of the designs. This also adds 1 business day to the processing time of the order. (Variable Data help)
    • Variable Data Help

      Types of Variable Data:
      • An order containing between 16-30 label designs.
      • An order containing variable information fields within a run of labels (different names, addresses, product numbers, etc. up to 30 variations).
    • When an order qualifies as variable data it requires a different setup process. Therefore, the order has to conform to some additional requirements. Please note that adjustments to your quanitities may be required. You will be contacted if adjustments are necessary. Also, it is our standard practice to place variable data orders on the minimum number of rolls possible. This means that some label designs may be buried under other designs. If you would like your labels separated by design or quantity, please call to confirm possible additional costs. Because there are so many different options for variable data it is difficult for Frontier to provide our customers with definite pricing up front.

    • Submitting a Variable Data Order

You will need to upload three files when prompted.
      • A zipped folder containing all of your label designs and elemnts.
      • A spreadsheet listing the quantities and information for the variable fields (file names if variable images).
      • An example of the finished label design(s).

  • + 30 designs (Variable Data)

    Please contact customer service.

Proof Type

How would you like to approve it?
  • Electronic Proof
PDF Proofs are available for a charge of $10 per five label designs. PDF proofs are for layout proofing purposes only and are not accurate representations of color or quality. If you have any special proofing requests please specify them in the comments section of the order form.
  • Press-Printed Proof
Press proofs are available for a charge of $95. This includes overnight shipping. Press proofs are full quality and are printed by the press with the substrate and laminate of your choice. Press proofs are not converted into individual labels. They represent accurate color and quality reproduction. If you are concerned with these issues please select the press proof option. A press proof may add up to three days to your processing time. If changes need to be made, and an updated press proof is required by the customer, a charge of $45 (to cover shipping cost) will apply.
